(Scent)imental Rugby

My hamper smells like rugby. My car smells like rugby. My closet, kit bag, and that drawer where I keep my dirty rugby clothes smells like rugby.
But its okay, because when I smell that unmistakable rugby smell, I am reminded that elsewhere in this city, there are 40 of my best friends whose closets, cars, and kit bags smell the same way.

And, I am reminded of each Saturday, when we put our personal and professional lives on hold, kit up, and step onto the field with the intention of destroying every player standing across from us.

Rugby is the reason we take the field. Rugby is the reason that we proudly go to work on Monday with a limp, black eye, and a cauliflowered ear. Rugby is the reason we spend three days a week soaked in other people’s sweat. Because, rugby is the reason we love our lives.

This isn’t faded high school glory. This is present intensity. This is our life and our team.

This is the Indianapolis Impalas.

Summer Touch Starts at Broad Ripple Park

Hey Everybody,

After talking with a lot of you guys Saturday, we have decided to go ahead and start summer touch this week Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8pm at Broad Ripple Park. We usually play in the back of the park, so the best way to get there is just east of the regular park entrance off of Evanston.

Also in other news, Palmer (the team that beat us at Midwest), is the only team from the Midwest to make the DI Final Four. I think that just go to shows us how tightly contested the Division 1 playoffs are. They were the #3 seed out of the Midwest and now they are in the Final Four.

Anyways, I hope everybody comes out for touch. It’s a great way to get into shape for the fall season and it’s right in Broad Ripple.

How Do I Get To Central State?

So as some of you know, our home playing field is at the Old Central State Hospital. The good thing is it is a nice open facility that never floods, the bad thing is it is impossible to get Google Map Directions to it (there is no specific address). But anyways here is a general address and a map to help you come out to a game!
